YOUNG ART FROM NORTHERN EUROPE explicitly promotes young artistic positions. In 2024, Marie-Luise Holländer, Elias Peschke, Christina Quandt, and Minttu Saarinen will present their work in a joint exhibition at the Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog. The artists will receive a one-month residency at the Künstlerhaus Lukas.

Marie-Luise Holländer (*1998) focuses on experiments and the exploration of processes that connect aesthetics with scientific inquiry. By placing natural materials in artistic environments, the artist creates fascinating experimental setups that question nature and its relationship to human creation. Holländer is a recipient of the INSOMNALE Prize from the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald.

Elias Peschke (*1995) creates objects, installations, and performances that generate meaningful connections, which can be deciphered and understood in much the same way as our dreams. The works of this INSOMNALE Prize recipient from the Caspar David Friedrich Institute of the University of Greifswald interact with their environment through technical solutions that are primarily a means rather than an end, reacting actively and dynamically to external influences.

Christina Quandt (*1997) explores the complexity of seemingly banal everyday phenomena and addresses social norms and culturally rooted themes in her works. The trained goldsmith combines classical gold- and silversmithing techniques with textile craftsmanship, inviting a personal examination of values and stereotypes through the medium of jewelry.

Finnish artist Minttu Saarinen (*1987) uses acrylic painting, performance, and installations with recycled materials to explore the creative interplay of tradition and modernity, as well as myth and reality. Saarinen’s large-scale, colorful acrylic works intertwine Finnish traditions and contemporary cultural phenomena into complex narratives about the connections and behaviors of humans and other species.
