This exhibition presents artistic positions that not only highlight ecological grievances but also actively engage in political debates and hypothesize alternative future scenarios. A central focus is the artists’ own ecological footprint: as the art market and design industry have evolved into resource-consuming, capitalist systems, a fundamental shift toward sustainability and climate-consciousness within the creative sector is essential.

Artists and designers experiment with natural materials and circular resource flows, test new methods of energy and raw material extraction, explore interactions between human and non-human factors, and use their work as a tool for awareness and audience engagement. At the intersection of natural sciences, ethical considerations, and art and design theory, unconventional perspectives and provocative theses emerge.

About the Artists:

Katarína Dubovská (*1989) studied in Prague, Zurich, and Leipzig, completing her Master’s program in 2020 under Prof. Peggy Buth at HGB Leipzig. Based in Leipzig, her work explores ecological questions related to sustainability and circular resources.

Tau Pibernat & Vera Castelijns, working as a collective, address the issue of clothing overproduction and present results from their ongoing experiments in creating textile products from discarded garments.

Jörg Finus (*1967) studied Fine Arts at UdK Berlin and Art History and Philosophy at FU Berlin. Based in Berlin, the artist and activist challenges ecological, economic, and societal structures through his work.

Tim van der Loo, born in the Netherlands, studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee. As a material and product designer, he utilizes post-consumer resources to develop new surfaces and structures.
