Romanticism Today?

Exhibition

In collaboration with the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Institute at the University of Greifswald and the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Center Greifswald
Curated by Celina Spieth

On the occasion of the Caspar David Friedrich anniversary, the exhibition Romanticism Today? explores the legacy and contemporary relevance of Romanticism.

Opening: Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 5 PM

Participating artists: Kerstin Flake, Christian Frosch, Via Lewandowsky, Ramona Schacht, Cindy Schmiedichen, with guest contributions by Martin Eberle and Kirsten Küppers as well as students from the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Institute.

Romanticism has shaped our thinking and language through its iconic images and narratives, which have become integral to popular culture. Through sculpture, photography, installation, and video, the artistic positions in this exhibition reflect on and deconstruct traditional images, figures, clichés, and the consumption of the Romantic.

Exhibition duration at Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop: September 8 – November 4, 2024 / Wed–Mon, 10 AM–5 PM
